Description

Exclusively designed for the House of Commons, this crowned ​Portcullis decoration has been hand embroidered using using ​traditional zari (wire) embroidery threads. The crown is emblazoned ​with clear crystals which add to its opulent finish. The reverse ​of the decoration is plain.​

​Symbolising strength and security, the portcullis is the official symbol ​of the House of Commons and UK Parliament, and can be seen in ​many places around the Palace of Westminster. The addition of the ​crown makes it a royal symbol, which the monarch grants Parliament ​a license to use. ​​
